The reason I nominate my wife as a hero is because she truly is one in every sense of the word.  For the past 10 years she has raised her severely handicapped daughter on her own for the most part and continues to work at a fulltime role helping other parents gain knowledge on how to get the best for their handicapped/disabled children.  It’s not unusual for my wife to be on the phone until 1am because a parent called at 9:30pm crying, ready to give up. And she does this with a baby monitor next to her, knowing her own daughter could have seizure at any time. This from the mother who was told by doctors "your child will never walk, talk." Through this mother’s persistence her daughter does walk and does talk, not many words but talking none the less.

I’ve only known my wife for 4 years, but everyday I look at her and think of her as a hero!"
